Schwinn Constance Electric Bike
Electric bikes are very similar to analog bikes – with a few key extras of course! Scroll through the carousel to learn about the unique features of our e-bikes. But even the mid- to low-end Shimano parts are perfectly fine for this level of bike. The Schwinn EC1 is one of those simple e-bikes that can reliably bring a smile to your face. If their goal was a lot of media coverage for them and, more importantly, Toshiba, they succeeded. But if their goal was to build a good bike, I think they failed. 7-speed drivetrain with trigger shifter lets you adapt to your terrain with ease, while mechanical disc brakes deliver all weather stopping power. 18-speed drivetrain with twist shifter lets you adapt to your terrain, while mechanical disc brakes deliver all weather stopping power. Longer distances and steep hills are no problem when you have a pedal assist motor and throttle to add a little extra oomph to your ride. The Schwinn Coston CE is very much a commuter electric bike, but it’s not one of those thin-wheeled messenger e-bikes. Head and taillights are also included for improved see and be-seen visibility. Headlights, taillights, and integrated frame lights help you see and be seen in low-light conditions. There’s nothing overly fancy about it, though I’d say the fact that it comes with built-in fenders and a rear rack is a nice feature. Many other e-bike companies charge extra for those parts. It got a lot of positive press for Schwinn and Toshiba, but it’s not a very good electric bike. Or, at least, get some good detail photos of parts otherwise not covered. Once I rigged up my kids' old trailer into a cargo trailer, I could transport even more from the grocery store. Suddenly I was spending hours if not days less time in my car, and more on a bike. I won't pretend that exercise was a factor here — the e-bike does 95% of the work for you — but I'll argue with any doctor that some peddling is better than sitting on my butt in a car. You can find all these bikes here, these are all brand new bikes. I found the battery removal process to be a bit tricky. The battery locks in under the frame of the bike, and the front wheel/fender tended to get in the way when removing or reinstalling the battery. Select models feature a throttle, which makes it easy to get going from a stop. The left brake lever controls the front brakes and the right the rear, as is standard. On the left bar, there’s the controller for the motor. It has a basic on/off toggle, a battery level indicator, and a power mode button that toggles between low, medium, and high. The frame is also designed to be lighter for easier handling, and includes wider tires for extra stability. Examples of this style include both the Coston DX and Mendocino Step-Thru models. All bikes purchased through City Grounds MUST be assembled by a certified bike shop mechanic. Electric bikes put extra power behind every pedal so you can ride farther, take on bigger hills, and enjoy cycling more than ever before. The SCiB batteries are power dense, charge insanely fast, are proprietary and un-obtainable by normal people, and just don’t make sense for an electric bicycle. In a nutshell, it’s a 24v, 4AH battery pack composed of reasonably exotic lithium titanate cells. Below, we offer suggestions based on your height, including one bike made specifically for tall riders. Ride up to 20 MPH with the 250-watt pedal assist hub motor that gives you a boost while you pedal. All Schwinn e-bikes are Class 2, which are the most widely accepted. They include both pedal assist and throttle functions, with a top speed of 20 MPH. Class 2 e-bikes are approved for use on bike trails in most cities and states.
